love makes the world go around. ÒtwoÓ, the second album by the soul session, is full of love. ralph kiefer, multi-instrumentalist, composer, arranger and producer from south germany embarks on a stylistically diverse journey into soul, jazz, funk and world music. being a highly respected session musician in the jazz as well as the crossover scene, kiefer made a serious impact in 2011 with ÒoneÓ, the first soul session album. ÒoneÓ was built on a solid backbeat of soul, hip hop and funk, while ÒtwoÓ now takes a step further into a spiritual and eclectic dimension. ÒquantraversaÓ featuring the voice of las vegas based neo-soul queen georgia anne muldrow is the mind- blowing opener of this album, a truly deep and intense rhythmic statement. quantraversa is a word which you will not find in any dictionary, but that is not the point, says ralph kiefer. Òthis album is a journey to the inner self. the recording process was like meditation. i often started with a loop, or an idea for a melody. it evolved from there and i simply let it happen. when i involved the lyricists and vocalists, my drafts sometimes took a completely different paths and ended in something unexpected and beautifully new.Ó
soul clap definitely knew what they were doing when they snapped up certifiable diva legend nona hendryx to sing on one of the cuts from their self-titled 2016 album. now ray mang has got his mitts on the parts to -shine (this is it)- and turned out three versions for his own mangled label - the classic combination of extended vocal, instrumental and radio edit versions. whichever cut suits you best, the vibe is the same, a bold and bright summer party track splashed with horns, keys and plenty more besides, although the smart money is on hendryx s legendary vocal, which soars as though no time has passed since her days working with material in 80s nyc.
chances are if you have a body, a pair of ears and access to some kind of listening device, you’ve at least tapped a foot to ‘shine’ from soul clap and nona hendryx. pure authenticity and vocal integrity is provided in bucket loads by nona (ex-labelle member and purveyor of funk for more than 40 years), while the production maintains soul clap’s sublime freshness. increasing your marimba intake by 200% with two additional versions, hot toddy gives exotic plushness with a diversified rhythm section and melodic bottom lines that lightly entwine, shimmering in the light of nonas voice. scott grooves brings the funk, with an upfront bassline and extra jb-style horns on his horns dub, while the deepah dub takes a housier approach while still keeping the horn stabs. scott finishes off with an echopella of nonas vocals recorded from the international space station. this remix package is everything you would want, and then some.

a compilation of some favorite italian dj’s and producers including tiger & woods, lele sachi, dj rocca and more, compiled by bamboozle aka eli soul clap.
robert used musicians from ripple to record four self penned songs as a vanity project which remained unissued, two of which have since been released as a soul junction 45 the modern soul dancers time of the day/take me high (sj537). while a third track, the excellent ballad love song about you made it s initial debut as part of the popular -we got a sweet thing going on - (volume 3) cd compilation series to great acclaim, following requests for it to put on a 45 we have duly obliged placing it back to back with robert s remaining previously unissued track the more dance orientated -i love you so- complete with girl backing singers. thus in doing so, we have now completed the trilogy of robert montgomery s recording output.
